Couple on a hike taking in the autumn viewsBy Foot

Hiking is a favorite amongst our guests. There are endless trails in the area, ranging in length and difficulty. There’s one for every level of hiker, all guaranteeing a stunning backdrop. Wanting something short and sweet with sweeping vistas? Head 20 minutes north to Lenox Mountain and the Mahanna Cobble summit. If you’re looking for something a bit more challenging, head south to Monument Mountain, a popular hiking spot in the area, and for good reason! With 360-degree view at its peak, it’s the perfect place to get a bird’s-eye view of the fall foliage. Nearby Kennedy Park in Lenox is also a wonderful place to spend a few hours exploring the 15 miles of well-maintained tree-lined trails.

If exploration on two wheels is more your style, there are many options for mountain biking too. The trails at Kennedy Park welcome bikes, as does Pittsfield State Forest comprised of 11,000 acres of forest land and 30 miles of trails. There are more challenging routes for our experienced bikers, all offering stunning scenery and local attractions perfect for pit stops along the way. Check out the loop here in Lee, MA, as well as the bike trails in neighboring Stockbridge and Lenox.

Car on a scenic drive through fall foliage

By Car

Of course, you don’t have to overexert yourself to get the best views and you can cover the most ground with a scenic drive through the Berkshires. While there are so many roads to choose from, we recommend starting right here in Lee and exploring the Central Berkshire loop hitting Becket, Hinsdale, Dalton, Pittsfield, West Stockbridge, and Lenox. If you’re shorter on time, the South Central Berkshire route is equally beautiful and will take you to Stockbridge, Housatonic, and Great Barrington before bringing you back home to Devonfield.

The above merely scratches the surface of autumn adventuring so be sure to ask us for more recommendations when you check in to your home away from home in the Berkshires. This is a truly magical place and time to visit. Everyone should experience the colorful scenery and witness New England’s natural beauty at some point in their lives. Such a special experience deserves a memorable place to stay so be sure to choose your favorite room for your fall getaway and branch out to see the foliage with the adventure of your choosing.
